     HOME      CATALOG INDEX     ORDER INFO

Ammonites are an extinct group of cephalopods that met their end along with the Dinosaurs in the Late Cretaceous.  Today cephalopods include the octopus, squid, cuttlefish and the Nautilus.   Ammonites generally with their coiled shells are perhaps most similar to the living Nautilus, but differed in possessing a complex suture pattern.
